AMBO Hospital

AMBO HOSPITAL, once called "Door of Life".

This hospital in Ambo was once a mission hospital doing great work among the people.  But then, during the oppressive and ungodly socialist revolution of the "Derg" - known as the "RED TERROR" - from 1974 to 1991, the missionaries left and the hospital fell into disrepair.

One can see the clear negative results of a socialistic regime - how it hinders development and a country's progress!  Now, the hospital is to "cry over".  It is supposed to serve 2 million people, but lacks an ambulance, and an adequate emergency room!  People have to go out and purchase their own medicine.  Doctors are paid so little, many leave to work even in other African countries.  Doctors who persevere here might have to open their own clinic to work after hours in order to make ends meet.

Where does all the foreign aid pouring into Ethiopia go?
